Contain the Clutter: Storing Plastic Bags
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This is the time of year when teachers old and new are thinking about setting up their classroom and unless you’ve won the lottery or struck gold you’re probably trying to do it on a budget. Here’s one way I found to create a little cuteness by upcycling a container that would have been tossed.
Every time I go grocery shopping I get more plastic bags. I used to take a handful to school. There are lots of reasons why I kept the bags around. Sometimes I needed to bag up an art project. Sometimes I needed to bag up wet clothes. Whatever the reasons for keeping them, they easily get out of control and I needed a good way to store them.
So I came up with a cute way to store my bags that would keep them accessible while hiding their ugliness. It started as an empty antibacterial wipes container. The label peeled right off.
Then, I hot glued a ribbon around the top and bottom. Next, I added a bow to the top.
Finally, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the word “Bags” in black vinyl. I stuck on the vinyl and it was ready to go.

So clever – and pretty, too! If you want to be super-fancy, I think you can fold and flatten the bags, and with one slightly overlapping the next, roll them into a cylindrical shape; insert in the container, pull one out through the hole, and the next is pulled into place behind it. If you try it, let us know what you think.
That’s an interesting idea. Thanks for sharing it.
I love this idea! Especially considering that all of my plastic bags are balled up and shoved into a paper bag hahah I can’t wait to finish my Lysol wipes so I can try this :)
