How is that every single Friday I wonder where the week went? Please tell me that I am not the only one. Anyway, somehow it’s time for a Five for Friday post again. Check out some of the awesome hands on experiences we’ve had recently and grab a St. Patrick’s Day freebie too.
So, here you go. These are some of the things we’ve been up to lately.
A few weeks ago my 2nd grader was worried. You might even say she was heartbroken. The reason why is kind of funny as it turns out. You see it was February and it hadn’t snowed yet. My little girl had been dreaming of playing in the snow, sledding, snowball fights, and snowmen. Considering that we are well and truly in the South, those are some big dreams and she was worried that winter would pass without any snow.
Recently, I’ve been seeing a trend towards virtual field trips. While it’s a great option for exploring cultures and places that are simply too far away to get to, there is something particularly awesome about the interaction that occurs on a real, honest to goodness, field trip. When my daughter can explore things and actually physically immerse herself into the learning she engages at a level I don’t otherwise see from her. A little planning and knowing a few simple tips have allowed us to have many successful field trips.
